Band blocks are used in making hats. After measuring a persons head shape we take the pattern and cut out what is called a band block. This band block is used to form the hat to so that the hat has the shape of the persons head. Not every person has the same shape of head. This band block is then given to the customer to keep in his hat so that the hat doesn’t loose its shape. The fur felt will shrink if left in a hot truck or it can expand when the person wears it in the rain. That is why it is good to get a custom made hat so you can get a band block to keep in your hat when your not wearing it.
