The real cowboys hat is truly the Boss of the Plains Hat with it’s flat brim and open crown. The Boss of the plains hat is what the cowboys in the 1800’s wore to protect them from the weather. So if you really want to look like a cowboy from that time period you should wear a Boss of the plains hat. I watch western movies that are filmed to portray cowboys from the 1800’s but they don’t have the right cowboy hat for that time period, and that really ruins the movie. If you want a cowboy to look like one he needs the right hat.
