The Boss of the Plains hat is the first original cowboy hat.  If you look back at all the photos of the cowboy in the 1800’s you would see that most of the cowboys wore a light colored boss of the plains hat. You just couldn’t hold your head up high if you weren’t wearing a boss of the plains hat.
