Old Western Hats

The old western cowboy hat is the Boss of the Plains hat. It is the hat that cowboys in the 1800’s wore. It has an o[pen crown with a flat brim and the only creases were dents that the cowboys put in them by grabbing their hats by the crown. Sometimes the brims were shaped by the way they grab the hat or by the wind when they rode fast and hard. The main color was a light  color like Bone, Silver belly or Sand. The hats were made of Beaver fur felt. If a hat made of wool was purchased he would soon find that it would loose it’s shape after the first rain storm.
